UW refers farmers to commercial labs (Ward Laboratories in Kearney NE most commonly recommended). The S-4 routine analysis referenced in UW Extension materials is the Ward Labs panel. Wyoming was flagged 'could not be verified' in the 2025 SSSAJ multi-state assessment. Wyoming soils are calcareous and alkaline across the basin/range and dryland wheat country. Some high-elevation forest soils in the Bighorns and Wind Rivers may be mildly acidic, but cropland is not.
